Adult Education and Skills Training. The Adult Learning Program goals are to increase each student's reading and mathematics skills by two grade levels and to refer or place each participant in a follow-on education program, job training program and/or entry level job. ARCH has focused the concept of basic education to address the needs of DC residents who are unable to meet the minimal academic requirements for job training programs. ARCH's Prep Programs allow students to spend up to six months raising their academic levels prior to entering the adult vocational programs. Computer skills are also taught during this period. Once the students reach their academic goal, they will be placed in vocational training in MOS Certification Customer Service, office skills or construction. ARCH will serve 60 DC residents under this program
Evening Reporting Center . ARCH will operate a new program this year, providing a highly structured and well-supervised group activities during ARCH the high risk-time periods for the youth awaiting trail, awaiting disposition or who are in committed status with the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services (DYRS) awaiting revocation hearing. ARCH will serve 20 to 30 youth a day.
Welfare to Work . ARCH will continue to provide approximately 600 District of Columbia TANF clients with case management and job placement services. This program will also provide an assessment of the educational and training needs necessary for current welfare recipients to improve or enhance skills that will provide better opportunity for employment
